-Betty Rauch Board, Member, Former Board Chair, Fortune Society

Who am I?

Have you ever wondered how the right words change everything? Language influences our thoughts, feelings, actions, and reactions. It’s the superpower that shifts perspectives, opens new possibilities, and drives new results.

I call myself a “Communicologist,” a blend of strategist and psychologist,  combining what inspires people with how to communicate effectively and achieve results. In a world filled with complexity, I am a “Simplicator,” making complicated concepts clear and actionable.

My Methodology: Receiver-Driven Communication

The core of my philosophy: It’s not about what you say, it’s about what they hear. It shifts the focus to understanding the audience’s needs and values. This receiver-driven approach builds trust, sparks engagement, and inspires action.

Empathy is the gateway to trust and connection, unlocking the emotional drivers behind decision-making and influence.

As a consultant, coach, and professor, I bring research-driven insights and real-world experience to help clients stay competitive, scale their businesses, and reach their goals.

I partner with executives and teams to enhance business outcomes by fostering stronger communication and collaboration with all stakeholders.  In today’s digital landscape, you also need different skills to build authentic, high-impact connection virtually.

As a coach, when clients uncover their limiting beliefs, they become more open to possibilities.  Coaching is action-oriented, focusing on strategies to achieve goals.

Since 2010, I’ve been an Adjunct Professor at NYU’s Stern School of Business, helping students find their voice and conquer presentation anxiety. My global teaching experience spans China, India, Brazil, and Europe, and my goal remains the same: to understand your audience and communicate with clarity, confidence, and purpose in all written and spoken communication.

I also consult within NYU/Stern’s Teaching Effectiveness Program, collaborating with faculty to elevate their presence, delivery, and student engagement. I believe great teaching isn’t just about what you know—it’s about how well you connect.

I hold undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, as well as a Master of Arts in Communication Science from the University of Connecticut. I’ve been a Certified Professional Coach since 2009, and has held FINRA securities licenses 7, 24, and 63.

My Board Service includes Trustee of the Securities Industry Association (now SIFMA) (10 years), Trustee/Speaker at the Wharton Securities Industry Institute. Former Board Member/Trustee: Institute for Rational Living, Trustee and Treasurer, NCBTMB (National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork).

Volunteer work: I served as a pro bono consultant for Save the Children, working closely with the CEO and philanthropy team. I currently volunteer at the Fortune Society, where I work with formerly incarcerated individuals to refine their interviewing skills, which helps them secure employment and successfully re-enter the workforce.
